From wcp5 at pitt.edu Tue Oct 3 11:36:36 2017 From: wcp5 at pitt.edu (Bill Price) Date: Tue, 3 Oct 2017 11:36:36 -0400 Subject: [Three Rivers TESOL] Asking you a favor for the Fall Conference... Message-ID: Dear Three Rivers TESOL members, The Fall Conference is coming up in a few weeks. Thanks so much for registering to attend! I'm writing today to ask you a favor. Our conferences are a collaborative community effort, and one of the ways we help each other is to chair each other's presentations. *What does a session chair do?* Session chairs have two main duties: - Briefly introduce the speaker(s) at the start of the presentation - Keep track of the time so that the speaker(s) don't run over If you're interested in attending a specific presentation anyway, volunteering to chair that presentation is a great way to ensure you'll have a chance to chat with the presenter one-on-one to coordinate and to get to know them better, so you can also think of it as a networking opportunity. *Please check out our presentation schedule and sign up here:* https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sMm_DGyGrdPcwzP2hhvVL6GvVa_IEFEBg6WNWuntA2Q/edit#gid=0 The *red* cells show where we still need chairs. The *green* cells show filled slots. Please take a look at the presentations and consider volunteering to be the chair for one or more that you're interested in attending. (Just make sure you'll actually be able to attend that presentation-- don't sign up for two in the same time slot, for example! :)) If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks so much! Message-ID: Hello Three Rivers TESOL members, We now have an *announcements* list and a *discussion* list: - This mailing list (threeriverstesol at threeriverstesol.org) is the official announcements list. Only board members can use it to send messages. - A suggestion was made at the conference that we also create an "open" mailing list that anyone can send messages to, so I have created a discussion list . If you are interested in joining the new discussion list, please click below and enter your email address: http://threeriverstesol.org/mailman/listinfo/threeriverstesol-discussion_threeriverstesol.org After you join, you can send messages to all the members of the discussion list by sending emails to threeriverstesol-discussion at threeriverstesol.org. Relevant information/links about our two mailing lists have been updated on the Three Rivers TESOL website.
